A senator is a title in the Esmeraldan Empire bestowed upon the elected members of the Imperial Senate.
Both nobles and commoners are eligible to be elected to the senate. However, in the case of high lords, Prefects and military personnel are required to abdicate their titles upon election. In some cases they are reclaim their former titles after serving their elected and in other cases they are unable to.
